Biocidal products are substances or mixtures consisting of, containing or generating one or more active substances with the intention of destroying, deterring, rendering harmless, preventing the action of, or otherwise exerting a controlling effect on harmful or undesired organisms. Examples are disinfectants, pest control products like rodenticides and insecticides, preservatives, mosquito repellents and antifouling products.
The EU Biocidal Products Regulation (BPR) is a complex and challenging one: many different processes, the system being in a transitional phase and many scientific and technical challenges. Erik van de Plassche has a long history in the BPR and can assist private as well as governmental organisations with meeting their obligations or carry out dedicated projects in the field of biocides.
